Five incidents & two Deaths Linked to Drugs in the Area

dc6MooMc9Gwent Police are extremely concerned after five incidents were reported this week potentially linked to the ingestion of heroin. Three of these incidents have sadly resulted in people losing their lives.  These incidents have all occurred between 23rd October 2016 and 28th October 2016 in the Caerphilly, Newport and Blaenau Gwent areas.

DI Leigh Mears said: “It is not clear whether all these tragic events are directly related, however, I cannot rule out the possibility that the deaths and the medical emergencies are linked to the same batch of heroin. “The use of heroin is of course illegal, but I would urge anyone using the drug to be especially cautious and vigilant. If they experience any unusual symptoms after taking drugs, they should seek medical attention immediately.”

If you have any concerns or any information relating to illegal drug supply in your area please call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

what is the point reporting dealers when the police do nothing about it. it infuriates me that these people think its ok to deal their drugs and get away with it

I've seen some lazy parking through Blackwood but this is on another level. Nothing to do with the ambulance behind it, it took a passing police car with 2 officers speaking to the person in the passenger seat to get the driver out of Peter Alan and move it. These people should be booked 😠😠😠 ... See MoreSee Less

Really disappointed with the neglect and deterioration of Pontlottyn. I'm all for preserving nature but when the overhanging trees and dangerous wall opposite Waterloo Terrace force you onto a dangerous road, it's rediculous. The weeds are taking over between the bottom of Edmund st right across to Greenfield St. That's just 1 tiny section. I'd love to know why North of Newtredegar is ignored and neglected . Our local councillor is blind to these to lems and has does nothing. ... See MoreSee Less

Throughout June we’ve been posting about the dangers and consequences of drink/drug driving.

Last Saturday, our officers in Blackwood responded to reports of a possible drink driver in the area. It didn’t take long to find the car, which was being driven around with a flat tyre.

Officers stopped the driver and he was arrested when he failed a breath test BUT WAIT FOR IT……. He was just 17 years old and only passed his driving test a few months before! He even had a can of lager with him! #unbelievable #yourenicked
