10K’s

The Caerphilly 10K is set to return for the second consecutive year on Sunday 22nd June 2014.

1700 runners from the length and breadth of the country travelled to Caerphilly last year to take on the challenge of the undulating Caerphilly 10K, starting and finishing the course in the shadow of the spectacular Caerphilly Castle.Elite and competitive runners from the Midlands, the South West and South East of England, as well as hundreds of local people, completed the course in astonishingly speedy times, with Rob Bugden from the RAF crossing the finish line first in an amazing 32 minutes and 11 seconds.

This year’s run is set to be bigger and better, with organisers expecting up to 3000 participants and as many spectators cheering and spurring on the runners by lining the route which will lead runners in and around Caerphilly Town Centre.

The event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and is supported by Welsh Athletics, Run Wales and Sport Wales.

For more information or to register for the event, visit the Caerphilly 10k website.

I've seen some lazy parking through Blackwood but this is on another level. Nothing to do with the ambulance behind it, it took a passing police car with 2 officers speaking to the person in the passenger seat to get the driver out of Peter Alan and move it. These people should be booked 😠😠😠 ... See MoreSee Less

Really disappointed with the neglect and deterioration of Pontlottyn. I'm all for preserving nature but when the overhanging trees and dangerous wall opposite Waterloo Terrace force you onto a dangerous road, it's rediculous. The weeds are taking over between the bottom of Edmund st right across to Greenfield St. That's just 1 tiny section. I'd love to know why North of Newtredegar is ignored and neglected . Our local councillor is blind to these to lems and has does nothing. ... See MoreSee Less

Throughout June we’ve been posting about the dangers and consequences of drink/drug driving.

Last Saturday, our officers in Blackwood responded to reports of a possible drink driver in the area. It didn’t take long to find the car, which was being driven around with a flat tyre.

Officers stopped the driver and he was arrested when he failed a breath test BUT WAIT FOR IT……. He was just 17 years old and only passed his driving test a few months before! He even had a can of lager with him! #unbelievable #yourenicked
